Triple het Cal Kings - outcome?

Kerby... Jun 22, 2009 11:59 PM

A few years back I bred a Blizzard (albino & hypermelanistic) Cal King to a Lavender Cal King, thus producing triple hets. This year I bred the triple hets back to each other and got 9 eggs on 30 May.

Any guesses as to what will pop out?

Of course I will post pics of the babies when that happens.

This is what is known as a Teaser thread.

I am not famliar with the hypermelanistic trait and how it works with other traits. I find it interesting to get a Blizzard when bred to a albino. But I wonder if the lavender albino and albino will cancel each out and you won't be able to tell?

who knows, you might produce something like a hot pink Blizzard (that stays pink). If you do, can I be first on the list?

big congrats and i hope you get a new visual form being a dbl or triple homozygot!!! very exciting stuff! im guessing a variety of all of the 3 morphs will be present in that clutch, but hopefully a dbl or triple will present itself

I am hoping too. I also have some other double het projects going to hatch this year.

... purple people eaters.

Although my suspicion is that you won't be able to tell the triple homos apart from the blizards. I mean if you add another gene to decrease black to an already white snake what happens??? You'll need more than 9 eggs to prove it though. Oh well, I guess you'll just have to do this breeding a few more times!

Who knows though, maybe something crazy will happen.
