If you pay close attention, the "poll results" are for a prior poll. The results for this poll are at the bottom of this page...

When I voted yesterday there was a resounding no response to the poll and now afterwards the result is 95% yes??? sounds like they say whatever they want.

Unless I'm missing it, I do not see where I can vote thumbs down on this poll.

Monday's results
Our editorial: Florida and the nation need a stronger law to stop the invasion of exotic species.

Thumbs up: 95.1%

Thumbs down: 4.9%

Talk about biased polls. How could this change so drastically within a day???

Same with me. When I voted yesterday morning it was about 85% "thumbs down", then when I checked a few minutes later the results showed 90% thumbs up. Unreal.

Thanks,
Ed

Same here. When I voted, Thumbs Down was way ahead.

Good catch Dave. That was misleading at best, putting the results from an unrelated topic in the midst of the python article. (And I wonder if it was just coincidence that the unrelated poll had a 90% approval result.)

When did our country become Iran?? This is scary stuff when the media not only doesn't expose government shenanigans and corruption, but is complicit with them.

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Jun 24, 2009 08:06 AM

This pole turned out to be a sham pole. Actually the thumbs down turned into an over 60% thumbs down BUT the newspaper LIED about the results. Shawn Heflich captured the REAL results before they took the pole down and lied about the outcome. Later I'll see if I can get the truth posted here. When I do everyone needs to contact the Orlando Paper about falsifying the poll results...Thank you

USARK Jun 24, 2009 12:27 PM

The final published results were 95.1% "thumbs up" and 4.9% "thumbs down". We monitored the results until they closed voting yesterday afternoon. The final as of close of voting was:

Vote on our editorial
· Do you agree with our opinion?

Thumbs up (326 responses)

37.8%

Thumbs down (537 responses)

62.2%

863 total responses (Results not scientific)

I called the editor for an explanation... she said that even though they did not close voting till yesterday PM, that the count ceased at 5PM Monday. She agreed to let USARK do a rebuttal. Stay tuned...

We continue to allow the media to pull the wool over our eyes and ears....yes there are some who don't take the predetermined bait of a fixed poll but we are in the minority.

It seems like we live in times where the medias word is set in stone....they are not our friends. It is the medias job to sensationalize everything and scare you into "tuning" in, how much better would we all be if the mainstream media was taken in moderation and required to be honest?

I guess for that to happen we would need some kind of government agency for honesty....what the heck am I saying LOL..

I have heard now we have "python hunters" down in the glades, now how could this be...where is peta where is humane society???
How could people kill an innocent animal for no reason other than to make a buck.....oh yeah it is a snake.

Just my opinion but there is a problem specifically in the glades and I do not feel that we will ever eradicate the pythons completely but hunting them may help to control the population. As far as I am concerned the numbers reported are blown way out of proportion anyway.

I had some relatives from Florida over for dinner and it amazed me how misinformed they were and how they were brain washed by the media into believing that there kids and pets were in DANGER! I told my aunt that if she were to let her children and dog run wild in the glades that there would be nothing that could save them pythons or not.

The real DANGER and "snake in the grass" is the power of this media machine and it's completely unchecked ability to report whatever it deems necessary to get the masses to tune in. It is far past time that we the sheeple speak out and remind the media and this government who we are and what we expect!

Sorry for the rant....never mind I am tired of apologizing for how I think and feel!!!!!

What's the difference between a Government controlled media getting the message out, be it the truth or not.
Much like the former Soviet Union did and China is doing. Compared to our so called
Free Republic where the media now reports the message they want
you to hear not necessarily the truth.
What happen to the media being held to a higher standard always
expected to back its information with solid sources ?
The media used to hold itself to those high standards.
Every media outlet has turned into a sensationalized ratings machine.
No longer does the media serve the public's best interest.

Thanks, Andrew.

Set them straight. It's great to have the USARK looking out for us.

Someone from Fl in another forum said this kind of thing is why they refer to the paper as the Orlando Slantinel.

There are millions of feral cats and dogs but that's ok because they have fur,How did they get that way by irresponsible people perhaps we should ban all animals welcome to comunism.I served to keep this country free but seems they are taking away more and more each day.Take care everyone
