Leucistic Texas Rat Snakes...

ChrisErica Jun 25, 2009 12:06 PM

in my opinion are the most underrated snakes out there. There's nothing like a thick 6 foot all white snake. It definitely gets the most ooh's and ahh's out of my collection.

1.0 coral snow
1.0 sunglow motley
1.0 sunglow
1.0 pastel colombian boa
1.0 brazilian rainbow boa
0.0.1 colombian boa
0.1 mexican black king snake
0.1 leucistic texas rat snake
1.0 jungle carpet python
1.0 woma python

She is impresssive. A 6' female, that's a big girl for sure. My male is quite a bit longer than the female, and is still putting on length, while she just seems to be getting thicker. Is it my imagination or are texas rats usually thicker, with bigger heads, than other NA rats of the same length?

I'm not really sure about texas rats having bigger heads and thicker girths, but I will say this, the mother of mine was huge, like 7ft and thick as a rainbow boa. It had to be at least 2500gms. I've never seen a rat snake that big or thick so you may have a point.

Don, it seems that way to me. Atleast the with regards to their head size. Not sure about thickness, as both my black rat and Tx. rat are both still young.

Gorgeous Tx. rat Chris. For the price that a Tx. lucy rat cost, & as stunning as they are, one of the best buys out there. Mine has a ways to go to catch up with yours, but he's pretty calm and mild mannerd most of the time. Steve

Thanks.

I'll never forget the story the guy who sold her to me once said. He had a table at a reptile show, with about 12 babies. No one would buy any, some even said they looked like worms. The next day he brought the adult male and sold all 12. As adults they're absolutely stunning. I guess it's the old saying it's beauty in the eye of the beholder.
