Wow, some of the replies here are really ignorant and disrespectful.
Did he act strange and creepy in his later years? Yes. But he had a title that the WORLD knew. The King of Pop.
Not everybody gets that recognition.

The loss of his single life will receive more media coverage than that of the 20 lives lost in the Iranian presidential protests.
Such is the way of our celebrity worshiping society.
Like I said, I mourn the loss of a human life, but humans die. It's part of being mortal. Tragic, yes...but there's nothing we can do about it, and life will continue on without him.

That's perfectly fair to say, if you want to. Though I could make the argument that he's been a direct part of our lives for longer. For example, say the Twin Towers. Tons of people instantly called their family members, and if they were all safe breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. Does it make the people who DID die any less important? No, but they didn't directly affect you.
I'm not saying he's part of my family, but it's the same general idea.
What's not appropriate is to act disrespectful and wish so and such favorite rap artist had busted his ass already. But those posts are gone from the thread now, so I suppose someone agreed with me about them being inappropriate.
