when is the perfect time to go road hunt

weather? temps? times?...i live in lake havasu city,az and i am getting pretty bummed...i have gone alot lately and nada..a few sidewinders here and there and some geckos but i REALY want to find some non venomous snakes!! especialy some shovel nose?...any ideas tips or tricks would be helpfull....also ive given up on yuma...havent seen ONE reptile on roads there yet...

Dusk, dawn, morning, & evening are productive times. I cruise well into the night and find snakes. During or following rain, overcast days. Hope that helps.

Getting to be the "dog days" of herping in the desert! Just too dang hot! Not much will be moving until you get some monsoonal rains. Maybe the odd Sidewinder for now. If/when the rains come you want to be there! When the barometer shifts thing start to move.
