Odd Eggs

ryuman1 Jun 26, 2009 11:04 AM

My female just laid a clutch of 15. I had been placing her in an egg laying box but she wouldnt use it. She ended up laying them in the cage, in a small hole under a perch.

The problem is, they don't have that bright white color her previous egss had, and other eggs I have seen. They are yellow, but not the yellow of infertile eggs. From what I know, infertile eggs are a sort of pale yellow, these eggs have an all around bright yellow (yolk) color. They do, however, have the red ring/spot.

Does this sound like a lack of calcium? Her eating slowed down really early with this clutch, but I got her eating again.

The eggs seem ok except for the color (one was stepped on by the dragon) and the yolk is the normal color/ consistency.

If she isn't using her egg laying box it is most likely due to it not being suitable to her. It may not be moist enough, or too moist, too warm or too cool etc.

As for the eggs, she could be low in calcium, give her dusted crickets or other insects. I would also go ahead and incubate the eggs just to make sure.

I have already started feeding fairly heavy with calcium.

I'm definately incubating them but do you think these eggs really have much chance, or is incubating them "just to be sure"
