Paradox VS Calico

Pithons Jun 26, 2009 02:48 PM

Just trying to clearify a few things. Whats the difference between a paradox boa and a calico boa. Is it that a paradox boa is an albino with spots and a calico boa is not an albino but has white spots. Do calicos turn more white with age where as a paradox doesnt chance color? Please explain some of the differences. Thanks.

well I can tell you first hand that Paradox Boas change color quite a bit actually. Mine are over a year old and with every shed they still seem to change colors. With mine anyway, I wouldn't even say they are simply an Albino with spots. They are all together different. Best of luck. Mike Panichi

After recently reading some info on a website who named his Boas Calico.
I now believe that there is not much difference in Calico as compared to Paradox.
The Calico from the website I'm speaking of also originated as a Paradox type Albino in a 2003 litter
from Albino to Hypo (I guess DH Glow)litter.
The difference appears to be this Calico trait seems to
influence more normal type Boas also.
It is possible these normal type Boas are low expression Paradox Albino Boas or something
( these "normal " type Boas are not even close to normal ,LOL they are outstanding looking Boas in my opinion)

Seems to me very similar traits. I wonder if they all have
connections to the DM Exotics line.

Whatever the case both traits are very interesting and
produce beautiful Boas !

It appears something is influencing melanin production interrupting
or influencing the tyrosinase chemical process.
