Elaphe dione, orange hatching! *PICS*

Gidivandebelt Jun 27, 2009 08:16 AM

Hi All,

Here are my just hatched dione. Something terrible happend and from 6 eggs (5 good), only 2 "good" hatchlings hatched. One was dead in the egg and the other two where heavily deformed so I had to euthenise them .. so bad.

All pics where taken a few hours after hatching, so their true colors will be much brighter.

BUT: 1 orange hacthed! And he is fine! The other is a female.

Have a look:

This one is a very nice orange male, he will turn out more oraneg each shed:

This is the good female, she is for Sue:

This one also a female, she is for Sue:

And together:

This are the deformed babies, the first one, a female and rely nice:

The second one, a male:

This one was dead in the egg:

Thanks for watching!

Best regards,
Gidi

Wow, that orange one is outstanding, Gidi! Congrats on the two that hatched out healthy. Very sorry to hear about the deformed ones and dead in egg - I know how that feels.

Gidi, you are killing me. I have no doubt that beautiful morphs like these will make Elaphe dione much more popular among herpetoculturists. Too bad about the deformed ones, but you can't win them all. Congrats!
