Describe your incubator. There should be no problem at all getting a closed egg box up to 100% humidity within 5 minutes. Maybe your hygrometer is busted?

Im using a HovaBator. It only has two small holes on the top. Can an egg survive with only 80% humidity?

put your eggs in an egg box.

And then put the egg box in the incubator?
-----
Josh Molone
Yes. The incubator provides your heat while the egg box maintains your humidity.
Josh, when I was using a HovaBator I would put the eggs in an egg box that had vermiculite and water in the bottom of it and a layer of eggcrate lighting on top of that to keep the eggs off of the water and then I put a very wet mixture of water and vermiculite in the bottom of the HovaBator also and set the egg box into it and you have all the moisture you need. The eggs should be fine that way and have all the humidity they could ever need.

Hi,
Is there any way you could send me or share with us the pics of your egg box set up and how you line up the layers to the eggs.
Thanks,
