Soaking and Egg Production

I have a have female pastel that recently ovulated. Over the last few weeks, she has constantly been in her water dish. She has no mites, it is not too dry in my snake room or anything like that. It also seems (not having an ultrasound, I cannot be sure) as though her follicles have been developing much faster than any of my other snakes that have laid this year. My other females seemed to soak more while they were gravid, but not as much as this little lady. Needless to say, She spends enough time in the dish that once she gets close to laying I am going to have to remove her dish and replace it with something small, so she cannot lay in it. Does anyone else have balls that live in their water dish while gravid?

I can't say I've ever had this experience since this upcoming fall will be my first breeding, but I remember someone posting recently that when they encountered a female who was building unusually fast she tended to throw slugs.

All girls are different. Some soak. Some don't. Some soak alot. Some like to knock their water bowls over. They're pregnant. They're just being crazy. Lol. No worries. If she is soaking alot, the smaller water bowl might be a good idea.

i have a female that has been soaking for about 45 days and i have not seen her ovulate, although i did keep an eye on her EVERYDAY but i didn't witness an ovulation but now 60 days later, she is still somewhat soaking and now she is also laying on her back which i know is a good sign, don't worry, they are just doing what snakes do, if they are going to go then they are going, if not then try again next season.

Many times spilling or soaking or hugging the water bowl is because the femaqe is trying to cool off. Before she ovulates, she is trying to be cool. After she ovulates is when she'll start looking for heat.

Seems odd that she would be soaking for this long to cool herself. That came to mind in the beginning, but it is 82 in that room during the day. Ironically, right after I posted this thread, she left her waterdish.
