Welcome to the club! It will be interesting to see how this group looks after they lose their juvenile coloration and pattern.
Have you tried throwing a little bird scent on the rodents for that female?
Genetic hairless mice are also my new trick for just about every snake...they also scent really well.
I've only tried to feed twice, I usually try to wait a little longer before scenting.I may try tease feeding, they seem snappish, or a paper bag next.I think they had to be feeding at the breeder,I saw some hatchlings in Costa Rica which were much smaller than these.
Has everybody had good luck with bird scenting though?

Mine just shed yesterday. After the shed, I tried feeding one 4g hairless mouse with vitamins and it grabbed it off the tongs but didn't eat. Thinking it was a good chance it was the taste of the vitamins (since it held it in its mouth for a bit but didnt eat), I wiped the vitamins off with a f/t day old chick because I wanted my second attempt to me more sure. It ate. Later yesterday night I fed him another hairless mouse (8g, no scenting) and it ate that too.
Articled on these snakes have said dipping small rodents in egg yolk has worked, but I really think these genetic hariless mice are pretty great, and a little bird scent is good for an added edge.
Don't be afraid of a little scent. Imprinting is a myth, and if yours happens to be the one that will only take scented...you can always sell it to me : )
i have 'bird scented' rodents many, many times thru the years as needed & it does works quite nicely. but you have to be careful w/ this practice as it's apparently addictive to certain species & then you will have to switch [& i mean fight] them back onto rodents! moderation in all things as usual i guess is the rule. btw, here's an old pic of an 06 crumbley line bull girl who never saw a a mouse/rat that she didn't inhale. at just barely 3 years old this snake is pushing 7.5' & is apparently destined to become a monster. her feeding response is absoultely ridiculous & deserves mucho respect! i'll post a real time pic of this beast this weekend but in the meantime, any other cool pics of your all your guy's non-drys? let's light it up in the ole' forum this 4th of july for a change...........

Gorgeous Bull! "Destined to be a monster", 7.5' isn't??? Would love to see recent pics with someone holding for size.
well i used the word 'destined' because she's only 3 years old.....i'm not sure when this little habit of her's started but she will now just launch herself at you when you open her door, twice biting me in the face. more recently she got about half my hand in her mouth while constricting the crap out of my arm. warm running water finlly made her release me after other efforts failed. she calms down after the initial flail but the opening ceremony can be quite exciting. we'll haul her out today after work & snap some pics. here's another charmer who resides here, a texas bull.

So you got the pair...bastard!!!
I got one of the males, mine has not eaten but they are awesome snakes for sure!!!! Good job man!!!

Hey man my guy just shed and both Gavin and I didn't even notice he was in shed so maybe he will eat now and maybe yours are in shed...
Jason
Yup he ate!!! Two quail chicks, day old.
Jason
Great!
I need to look around for something to scent with for the female.
I'm guessing I can find quail in an Asian market..... I don't think any of the local shops carry it.

Rodent Pro, Ben Siegel, or UnderGround are 3 places I would look first. Feeder quail are cheaper than food quail. Gavin used chicken chicks.
Jason
chicken juice/blood will probably do the trick if that's easier.

Regular supermarket chicken?

yes, it usually works like a charm. my buddy has w/c mangroves that he thought he was going to lose until he tried that. it was an immediate hit & i've used it on w/c yt's w/ great success as well. good luck!

She ate today. I was in PetSupermarket buying dog food and grabbed a parakeet feather from their cage.
Scented with that and viola!

that's using the old thinking cap! i'm surprised a single feather worked, she must have been pretty hungry.

I'm not surprised at all. Congrats to you Lloyd. It is creative, when I feel like I need to have some scenting material I spend $100 or more on an order of chicks.
I am excited to see how these things look as adults.
Thanks for the support guys.
She had another large pinkie today. The Male ate two yesterday,so hopefully I'm on my way....
