Doesn't help our cause vs HR 669

mqbuchanan Jul 01, 2009 12:09 PM

I hope to god this isn't true.

Perhaps IQ tests should be a precursor to python ownership. A few bad owners make the entire industry look like incompetent monsters.

I really hope this story is a hoax

Of course a story like this is going to get hyped because it's such a rare occurence. Then all the morons chime in and use to to further their anti reptile cause. Yes, if the story is true, it's tragic that a child lost their life. But how many people across the country have been killed or injured this week by domesticated animals that would be approved by HR 669? The media won't point this out. They also won't point out that banning things generally does very little to nothing to change any problems.

In 2007 there were 33 reported fatal dog attacks in the US and almost 5mm reported non fatal attacks

One of the local papers in my area in NC, listed that there have been 12 large constrictor related deaths in the US since 1980, including the one in Florida. I then did some research, and found a rough estimate of 335 dog related deaths in the US since 1979. I think that HR 669 is targeting the wrong type of animals.

Just my opinion on that,
Chris P.

And I think if you do further research you'll find that the majority of those constrictor deaths were the snake killing it's owner, while the dog ones are the dog killing someone besides the owner.

Lets not forget a horse is responsible for the death of superman,so we should ban all horses too.
