Anyone else go to the M.A.R.S. show in MD this weekend?

geckoville Sep 14, 2003 09:56 PM

Just wondering if anyone else got a chance to go to the M.A.R.S. show out in MD this weekend. In comparison to the show last year there were a lot of empty tables, and it really wasn't all that crowded. Still a good show though.
Finally got to meet Kevin Elliser of K&N Reptiles, John Bechtold, as well as and Mark and Kim Bell all the way from FL.
I'll post some pics of the Bell albino that I picked up from Mark and Kim later this week.

We went Saturday morning and it was really crowded. We got there about 10:30 and the line was to the end of the building, in the rain. It was really nice compared to the others in this area we've seen. It was even bigger than the IRBA show we went to in Vegas a few years ago (back when Rainwater was still around).

I had a great (somewhat brief) conversation with Kevin and he seems like a great guy. All in all, I had a blast and only wish we were in the market for some more geckos, or any of the other million herps I'm interested in. I got a great (huge) cage for our Cresties from Doug Barr, who is also real nice to talk to.

No Rach book, though. That was a disappointment, but I learned from Eco Publishing that they'll be putting out a Ciliatus book in a couple months that'll run about $10.

Too bad we couldn't link up, I'd like to have met you. Anyway, I guess the next big one is the NARBC in Philly, huh?

We won't have a table at the Philly show, but will be attending it on Sunday (have to work on Saturday). We will have a table at the Northwestern Berks Reptile Show and Sale in Hamburg, PA on the 18th-19th of October.
For as much stuff as was still available today I can only imagine all the eye candy that was there yesterday.

See you in Pilly,

I was there both days they had some great prices on Bell albinos there. I wanted to get some so badly unfortunately they don't really tie in well to my tremper breeding project and I am also saving money for a nice jungle tang albino female from AMgecko and a setup for a pair of Dendrobates Tinctorius I hope to get from Sean Stewart. I don't know if any of you guys know him but he's a dart frog breeder from Columbia MD and was at the show.

Here are my new additions.

Regrown tail, but really interesting pattern, it doesn't look like spots at all.
