Cage Inside Building

sbshortie Sep 14, 2003 10:00 PM

Hey everyone-

I am gonna work on building basking spots and such or the 40 gallon tank for Bam Bam and Pebbles on Wednesday. My first question is what should I buy at Home Depot that is safe for them? My second question is if paper towels are still okay instead of sand since sand just scares me.

Thanks guys!
Becca

I bought a bag of "Flagstone" at my local Home Depot to create basking spots for all of my heat loving buddies. It is kind of hard to find and usually the people at HD don't even know they have it. Just look in the bins outside of the store, usually on the side of the store. They keep the bags of flagstone by the bricks, paverstones and the likes. It is just a mixed bag of flat rocks, they stack nicely and make a perfect basking spot!

I was actually trying not to use rocks because my lizards are wild and if I even stack 2 rocks they get knocked over and I don't want any injuries and I'm not sure how to stabalize the rocks.

different pieces of slate maybe 3 or 4 piled on top of one another staggered though so they can have ledges in between, but the main thing is the bricks support the slate. And nothing falls ! And they can also have the space between the bricks and where the slate starts as a cave. Works for me, Every one of my lizards(different kinds, I use the same brick, slate basking set up ! May not be beautiful, but it is natural looking and safe ! And you can make the basking site high ! Eve
