Looked at this forum 1000's of times. Been in the reptile trade for over 15 years, and finally got around to breeding. This is the first year for me. To start off I feel I owe a ton of credit to an excellent breeder and very good friend of mine Chris Burgess.
over 12 years ago Chris came to me when I worked in a pet store and told me he wanted to get into Albino Boas. He always had the best normals I'd ever seen. I sold them as Screaming Red's from the Burgess batch and consistently got 250.00 for them. Anyway staying on track. I got Chris an albino and 2 hets from Jason Stoots a guy I worked with at the pet store. We worked out a trade for some snakes and cash. Chris told me that I helped him out a ton and that I could expect 2 babies from this trio. lol, now I knew chris for a long time and I trusted the guy, but these were babies. From everything I figured it would take around 4-5 years to get a female ready to breed and I already had plans to leave the pet store soon. Five years went by. So I got a new job in a completely different field; I forgot completely about the promiss of any boas or the pet store.
I got a phone call. I hear what I believe is a familiar voice over the phone. " I got something for you" I said huh?? " I got something for you" again lol. Who is this??? I said. " This is Chris Burgess and I have a pair of Albino Boas at my house that you need to come and get. Now I know that the price of albinos is down now, but when he called me they were like around 800-1000 a piece still. This guy actually tracked me down to give me 2 snakes that he could sell and was selling all because he said he would. I don't have best friends that would look me up after a month to give me 20$ lol.
Anyways so very long story short Last year Chris moved from Indiana to South Carolina and couldn't take his snakes with him. So to help him out I took his adults and did the best I could with them. I stopped feeding them 2 weeks before thanksgiving and turned their lights off the day after thanks giving and left the heat pads on as instructed. I misted them down frequently and had their fronts of the cages papered and taped up. I closed the blinds to that room and dropped the room temp at 75 degrees. I turned the lights on and started feeding them again the last day of February.
april 11th
my albino female that bred with satan a double het sunglow produced 4 premies and 17 slugs all premies were dead by the next day.
June 11th Het Female that bred with Albino male produced 16 albinos and 12 hets.
There was a huge storm that was starting. I rushed upstairs to see her spitting out the first babies everywhere. It was awesome. I ran through the house screaming "we got babies!!!"
Picking up tanks and such and getting things ready. After she was done the storm stopped, ran across the street to tell my neighbors and when walking back there was a rainbow going what looked like right to my house lol. pot of gold haha. I got the whole birth on tape. It was awesome. my girlfriend has helped me out a bunch with cages and everything She hates snakes, but she watches over the babies like crazy. Shes awesome.
So the day Chris drove in from South Carolina like around June 15th or so one of my hets got loose before he got there. Chris was going to pick up his share because they are his adults and I get 1/3 just for keeping the snakes and taking care of them. So I told him one was missing we'd take it out of my share so I got 3 hets.
June 26th my albino female regurged- She had eaten about 5 large rats since the birth on april 11th. Very hit and miss
June 27th my albino died. She was a great snake and the first boa I ever kept myself. I've bought and sold well over 1000 snakes through that petstore and taken care of them all. She was the first one I ever kept in my home. She was awesome.
June 28th I went to cedar point for 2 days. Was coming home on the 30th. Cleaned out the car and came upstairs to find on
July1st at 1am chris's albino female that had been part of the trio with my albino and satan had given birth to 26 snakes
10 sunglows
3 albinos
5 het for albinos
and 8 double het for albinos
Everyone had just gone to bed because we were worn out from Cedar point and the wildlife safari drive thru place we went near sandusky. And I'm all running through the house going WE GOT MORE FREAKING BABIES!!!! lol so I get them all separated again moved some more cages and cleaned some more tanks and finally got to bed around 430 am on july the 1st . slept in til noon did some running got some fuzzies from mark at hoosier mouse supply. (marks awesome) he's 15 minutes down the road from me and i've used him for years through the petstore.
So I got everything done and one of my new roommates Tia was like hey you guys (me and crissy) wanna watch a movie. We watched Stargate. Crissy was like ya we just gotta return the rental car before 11 at the airport. So we sit down to watch the movie and crissy pops the recliner on the sectional and out pops the baby het that had been missing for like 2 weeks. I put him in the water bowl in the cage with the others and he sat there for like an hour before really moving much then he was all over the cage. Now about 10:30 we paused the movie and checked the babies and the snakes. Everything was good so we left.
got back at 11:55 pm started the movie back up, ate some popcorn and then watched jack kick Ra butt. Great movie
July 2nd around 1am we get up from the movie.
Crissy screams Oh My GOD theres a hundred babies!!!!!!
nicknamed big mama(by crissy) she's 8.5 foot 50 pound hypo that we bred with a male hypo 8' and 37 pounds nicknamed george by my sons . She gave birth to 29 hypo babies and 10 hets
one hypo had a stripe from head to tail and was born dead.
one hypo was born all deformed and torn up, but that leaves 37 total and I believe the last litter for the year.
So 3 out of 4 good litters
and thats 91 babies
Got done with all the cleanup this morning at 5am
and just wanted to share this with you guys.
Like I said I read these forums a lot and I'm always on kingsnake.com I love this site.
Now I'm going to check on my babies and then I'm going to eat a sandwich and go back to sleep. I'll see if I can figure out how to post some pics and get some up here for you guys.

You guys are great. I'm looking to expand next year. I want to get into albino motleys and albino arabesques and if I can somehow swing it. If I figure out the genetics on everything I would like to try later maybe some lipsticks and maybe some paradox, but thatll have to be later. I got enough babies to feed right now as it is lol.
