Keeper Albino

RandyRemington Jul 02, 2009 04:54 PM

Just took post shed pics of this girl today. She is my first successful ball python morph hatching after only 14 or so years trying. Her clutch was actually my 2nd time hitting on 66% chance het male to 50% chance het female but the first time (2003) the albino babies where kinked and didn't make it. Her RDR father is also 66% chance het genetic stripe so I'm hoping she is a stripe het.

She is a very nice looking Albino for sure Randy!

Best of luck with her carrying the G Stripe gene as well !

Great job Randy! It is a rewarding thing to do something on your own and with odds as well! I remember when you had the death(s) several years ago and lost at least one albino at a time when they were alot more than $400 or $500 each thats for sure. If you dont mind me asking, why did it take so long between that clutch and this one to hit again? I mean you wouldve know the combo you had in 03 was 100% het at that point. Just curious.

Congrats again.

Thanks Anthony and Alan.

Alan,

I've made quite a few mistakes that set me back. I actually started with a 50% het male in 1995 but didn't ever produce with him (my mistake) before making four 50% het albino females in 2000 with a different male (100% het). After the first of the four 50% het sisters was proven in 2003 I did something that was probably a mistake but the jury is still out on; I sold her to fund an IMG type girl who's first eggs are only now incubating. I also eventually sold that proven male (originally 66% chance het albino 50% chance het Jolliff axanthic) and loaned out two of the unproven sisters for several years to get some co-dom offspring (the fourth sister had produced enough non albinos with the proven male by then that I sold her as a normal). So I could write books on how not to get anywhere in a hurry, lol.

Randy, what a long road you've traveled to finally produce this gem. Big congrats!
