Update: Albino Pinstripes * Must See*

brookside Jul 03, 2009 10:05 PM

I want to start off by thanking everyone that replied to our previous Albino Pinstripe post. We appreciate your feedback and kind words!

All of the babies have left their eggs and from a 6 egg clutch (Pinstripe 100% Het Albino male x Albino female), here's the final results:

2.1 Albino Pinstripes
1.1 Albinos
0.1 Pinstripe 100% Het Albino

The first two 1.1 Albino Pinstripes to hatch were gorgeous. The male is on the far left.

We were shocked when a basically white ball python emerged from the 3rd egg. What is this? Could this be the first Faded Albino Pinstripe produced? I don't know but either way he's really cool! I know NERD produced the first Faded Albino Spider in 2005. What do you think?

Here's a close-up of the Faded Albino Pinstripe male.

Here's one more picture of the Faded Albino Pinstripe (right) with an '09 Ivory for comparison.

The second surprise was the female Pinstripe 100% Het Albino. She is completely absent of the "golden" coloration that is typical with Pinstripes. I'm not sure how common this is but she's a keeper

Here she is on the right compared to an '09 Pinstripe.

Take Care and Thanks for looking!

That is a sweet clutch. Awesome odds too. I'm jealous, congrats.

toshamc Jul 03, 2009 10:12 PM

Wow -- it looks like the orange from the one transfered over to the other two. IDK are you sure they weren't both het for axanthic?

Awesome looking clutch -- congratulations!

I agree Tosha, that pin looks axanthic and the faded albino pinstipe looks kind of like a "snow" pinstripe. Way cool.

bulliwalla Jul 03, 2009 10:16 PM

Very cool. Looks like an axanthic pin and a snow pin.
I love the albino pins too!

She's a high contrast 2007 female that we produced from an Albino to 100% Het Albino breeding. By far the best looking Albino we have ever produced.

He's a typical looking 2007 Pinstripe male that's 100% Het Albino (high contrast). Picked him up from BHB last year.

That is an incredible clutch, congratulations. I am not trying to rain on your parade but it appears to be a somewhat common occurrence though. Here is a picture of a clutch that I hatched out last year. I purchased the parents (A pair of Hets) from Brian at BHB and when I asked him what he thought Brian told me that they were what Kevin from Nerd refers to as Faded Albinos. The Axanthic looking ones are a definite marker for Het for the faded Albino.

Here is a better picture of the Albino in the clutch. By the way as she got older she colored up and now looks like a normal Albino.

It might be the few beers and mexican food that has blurred my vision, but wholey cow, those could pass as a Snow ball(SnowPin) and Axanthic Pinstripe, you sure your Albinos weren't het Axanthic too?...

Major congrats!!! What a great way to start off the fourth of July weekend...

I dont know about the "Snow Pin" but I do know that a lot of het Albinos come out looking like Axanthics at first. Maybe thats what is going on with that one Pin. Either way, congrats!

conleyherps Jul 04, 2009 08:03 AM

That's awesome! I never knew that the faded albinos produce visual hets like that. I would have been in that project several years ago had I known that.

Thanks for the head up.

I would definitely be breeding both the female pin and the male "faded" albino pin to some axanthics as soon as they are ready. Those are some real fine looking snakes.

I'd take the one on the left

feed that faded , it should (?I guess) darken up to yellow in a few months....my fadeds darken up pretty fast....

a pin with no color...yea...what is up with that, I first glanced that way and thought "how'd he get a spider "....
oh....???...faded pinny?.....WTH>>>>LOL

......good luck, amel pins are pretty cute.....congrats!

My het albinos throw axanthic looking het babies that color up to normal after their first or second shed. If your pin doesn't color up after a few shed, I'd think there were some axanthic genes at play there.

APYTHON4U Jul 04, 2009 10:03 AM

I used to have a het albino male that threw babies like that.

JYohe Jul 04, 2009 01:19 PM

you should get feaded amels also then, they look like snows and as you said, color up quickly....

.....seems like alot of them are out there....

my origional male amel came from BHB the het females came from Ball Boutique via Ian Gniazdowski....so who knows where the hets came from before that?....

...

good luck.,......

Obsolutely correct Jason ! Some of my Albinos and hets have done the same things over the years. The Albinos that are like that do tend to stay very light but the Axanthic almost hypo looking hets from what I have seen do end up looking more like normal hets that are maybe just a little lighter after about 2 sheds. As you said if that Pin holds that look after a few sheds then your on your way to soemthing new for sure! Either way that's very cool stuff you have there Scott, NICE job for sure!

regardless, congrats!

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Our goal was to produce an Albino Pinstripe, so the faded Albino Pinstripe and Axanthic looking Pinstripe were definitely a surprise and bonus. No matter what, it will be hard to let anything go out of this clutch.

I will put up some new pics once they shed.

Albey, Jason and Dennis, thanks for posting pictures of your clutches where they have thrown Axanthic looking Hets. I have never produced anything like that in our breedings so that was very cool to see. I learn something new everyday! It's also very cool to know that the Axanthic looking hets are a definite marker for faded Albino.

Thanks again and Take Care! Happy 4th to all!!

The axanthic looking hets are news to me also. Have enough been bred from possible het albino clutches to be sure that all of the ones that start out axanthic looking are albino hets? Maybe it's some separate gene like a co-dominant or dominant axanthic gene that just doesn't last long after hatching but has been bred into some albino lines to make faded albinos.

In this clutch I suppose if there is a faded albino gene that causes axanthic looking baby albino hets all by it’s self it would have to be one of mom’s copies because the het albino dad gave the exact same albino allele to both the dark and faded albino offspring and didn’t give any albino allele to the pinstripe baby.

JYohe Jul 04, 2009 01:22 PM

faded amel and axanthic LOOKING hets were topics on here many many many times over the last couple years....I made like 8 snow looking amels last year....they all colored up....and the axanthics brown up real fast, like before you sell them,,,which really sucks...LOL....

I thought you read this stuff?......(J/K)LOL......
