Independence day babies!

RoswellBoa Jul 04, 2009 09:01 AM

Mom started having these kids around 5am this morning...I was just about to try to get some sleep, and figured I should check on her one more time...sure glad I did

Female is a 1999, and she is 25% Suriname...dad is an odd colored reddish hypo...

Mom...

Father...

First one out...

The one toward the bottom took off running right out of the gate, LOL

The whole group...I was able to get them all out safely, before mom came looking for me...

I have no idea what is going on with the pale color and odd pattern on this one. I sure hope it makes it, the yolk worries me. Mom and dad are both possible hets for anery, but seems strange I would only get two, and no ghosts?

The other smaller pale one on the upper left, was a premature baby with a severe skull deformity...I realized a bit later, it was still alive, and it was put down immediately.

More pics...

Look at those head spots!

I was really hoping I would see some in the litter that resembled their father, with lots of speckling and heavy pattern...can't be sure yet, but looks like dad may be one of a kind.

I was very surprised at the reduced patterning/lack of speckles and dark color, on some of the hypos...considering neither mom nor dad are 'clean' in any way...mom is actually quite dark and speckled...

Whether it was dad's color, or the color underneath mom's black (from her Suriname blood), some of these hypos are amazing...and they haven't even shed yet

Thanks for looking!

What a sensational way to start Independence Day! Congratulations. That's one gorgeous pile of babies! Sorry to hear you had to put one down, and I sure hope that the other makes it. Best wishes. Please share more photos when they are cleaned up and shed!

The tail on this one seems to have some red in it (though very faded, compared to the others), so I think something besides anery is going on. The other normals are very dark compared to this one; will be neat to see after shed, if it survives.

I had tied off and removed the largest part of the yolk, and it absorbed the rest of it up into its belly this evening. It is still weak, but is moving around a bit more, so I am cautiously optimistic on this one...
