what do you feed the big gals?

Just wondering what you guys feed your big females. Im talking about your 8 footers. I understand that their bellys are not like the large pythons that can just eat whatever fits in its mouth. I just fed an 8ft female a 4 lb rabbit. Seems to be just right as she needs some weight anyways. But would a 6 1/2 lb bunny be too big for an 8ft female.

I personally am not a fan of "stuffing" my boas, so I believe that we should feed only when hungry and that the boa should be able to curl COMFORTABLY after a meal and the "lump" should only be barely noticeable...just my opinion.

I feed 2 or 3 large rats at a time. I'm not a big fan of large meals.

I do the same. Most times they'll get 2 large rats. If I take out a few too many rats, I'll give the larger females a third rat.

I've never given my snakes a rabbit. They seem to do well and maintain their weight with the smaller meals. Also, the rats fit into my freezer better and are more cost efficient.

I think a 6lb rabbit would be way too big for a BCi.

My largest boa is just around 8' and she gets about 2 jumbo rats every 2-4 weeks. I vary the scedule and sometimes she'll only get 1 or sometimes 2 large, etc. When I have access to them, I'll give her a 1-2 lb rabbit every month/month and a half. I just don't have regular access to feeder rabbits.

Good luck
