Whoa, nice! I cant wait till my monitor Jango gets to be 38". He currently is only about a year old and he is 20". I moved him up to mice in June and since then he has grown about 8-9"!

Former owner couldnt get him to grow or eat right. I got him to double his size and almost triple his weight with alot of patience and care. Shadows younger sister is double his size yet a year younger (Sobek). At a year old Sobek was almost 5 ft long, at 2 years old Shadow was 22 inches under Rob Fausts care.

Whoa. You have been doing a great job! At 10 months old Jango was only a mere foot (thats with his tail). I started feeding him a better diet and started giving him mice and he started shooting up. Hes like I said 20 inches now. I dont think Shadow is done growing either. I have read reports that monitors continue to grow for about 3 and a half years. Good luck with Shadow.

The majority of their growth occurs in the first 2 years, with the biggest part being in the first year. After 2 years they still grow throughout their lives at a small rate. These figures for growth and time are for monitors given what they can use to accomplish growth. Shadow will grow slowly for a while but 4 of his vertebrae were compacted at birth causing a twist in his back. This may or may not slow or impede his growth down the road.
