calculation help?

Hi. I'm the one with the new baby RES, Crumpet, (he's about 2 inches long, for the curious) and we recently bought him a new plastic tank, which is curved out a bit in the front. I've been trying to figure out how big this tank is - both out of curiosity and so I can figure out which filter to get - because it didn't say anywhere on the packaging. I have a terrible sense of size when it comes to these things, and for all I know it could be 100 gallons (although I highly doubt that; what exactly do I go to college for again? ) I can give you guys some rough measurements. Like I said, the tank's curved, so these are approximate: it's about 9 inches high, 7.5 inches wide, and about 14 inches long. It's much bigger than his last one, and Crumpet's really digging it, but if you guys could tell me how big it is, then he can brag about it to all his (imaginary) turtle friends and get his smile on. Thanks!

You will see the following formula in a variety of different ways, to determine the number of gallons in a tank use
this formula:

Width X Depth X Height = cubic inches
cubic inches X .004329003 = gallons

Using your measurements, the capacity of your tanks would be approx. 4.09 gallons.

Thanks, Bob. I didn't know there was a formula, although I assumed there was, but it's nice to know all the same. Crumpet sends his love and thanks to you and your turtles, too.
