Anyone out there using AP cages?

tcdrover Jul 06, 2009 10:05 AM

I just got 4 of them. They look great, very sturdy looking.

I'm curious if anyone has any problems heating them. I didn't
realize how thick that plastic is. I've got 23"x11" Ultratherm
pads. I'm not sure how well the heat will penetrate that bottom
piece.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

1/2 inch expanded foam PVC heats fairly well from below. It does take awhile to heat through the plastic, and the heater will be ON more for the thicker cage vs a thinner cage.

Obviously, a cooler ambient temperature will reduce the heating effectivity. At that time I would increase the heated area greatly (add another heater).

The ambient temps should be fairly warm, I'm in S FLA, even
with the air turned down it never gets cooler than 75 degrees
in that room.
