Any pictures of the Puma?

marshallvt Jul 06, 2009 03:29 PM

Does anyone have a picture of a hatchling Puma? Is this a really nice ivory or a superstripe or something like it?

same morph just different names. there's a big ol' story behind the names between North America and Europe and a couple of the big name breeders there in the US.......people getting pissed with one another, arguments, trash talking.....blah blah blah.

the morph mostly goes with the name "Champagne" now.

Mr.Pitoon why are you so quick to call apples oranges? When obviously there is a difference in the 2?

RandyRemington Jul 06, 2009 07:19 PM

I think there really is a different use of the name "Puma" depending on your side of the Atlantic. Just another ball python naming point of confusion.

have a look at NERD's link below on the AKA..........

Link

I will briefly explain the story..............

Noah proved them out what is called the “Champagne” ……….once he did…….. he sold one to NERD claiming it was a newly found morph. Then several months later one got sold one to a guy here in Italy. NERD gets upset at the fact that he was told it was a newly found morph yet another one mysteriously gets sold across the big pond we call the Atlantic. Now this Italian dude then makes contact with RDR and Mike Wilbanks/Bob Clark. RDR gives the name to this morph that the Italian guy has as the “Puma” while NERD calls theirs “Champagne”. Still the same snake.

This along with other issues I will not go into is where the arguments, trash talk…….blah, blah, blah comes into play. Just a bunch of craziness about money….what else, right?

You ever read Kevin’s book…”The Complete Ball Python” if you read the last chapter about the Ball Python “Warlord” who do you think he is really referring to without saying any names????????? 1 + 1 = 2……right?

Is this conspiracy theories? I’m just saying what I know.

As for Amir’s line called “Puma” Yes it does look different from what I know as the “Champagne/Puma”. I don’t know if Amir’s line is a combo/designer morph or an actual morph all in it’s on or a different line. I also don’t know if Amir named his morph before or after all the commotion went down on the original “Champagne” ordeal.

We may be talking about apples and oranges here. But I was referring to NERD’s line and the line that is here in Europe…….not Amirs line or combo if it is or not.

Hope that explains the reason why I wrote what I wrote.

How’s the Lesser…..i mean Buttery butter doing?

Peace

Amir first produced the Puma. At first he thought it was a Citrus Pastel Super Stripe but then changed the name of it to Puma. It is very similar to a Super Stripe hence the original confusion.

Here is a picture of one from my Internet collection of Ball Python Morphs.

Thanks for the picture. I think that is the pastel puma. I was looking for a standard puma. It seems there have been lots of super stripes produced but no pumas.

beautiful snake. I'm guessing the puma is a hidden or mystery gene x yellowbelly? Can anyone point out the differences between the superstripe and the puma? It looks like the side patterning may be a little different, and the older ones look much more like an ivory although that may be more due to the pastel gene.

Marshall,

I have photos of the snake you are looking for.
However, I would rather have you contact the person who produced the animal...and ask him for the photos. The photo I have is of a STRAIGHT PUMA....not a Pastel Puma or a Puma Combo.
It is not the animal produced by Amir....but Amir did agree that it was certainly a Puma.
Marshal, please feel welcome to contact me by phone.

To clear up any confusion...
The Puma Trait in America is VERY different from the Champagnes.
Pumas (in America) look somewhat similar to SuperStripes.

American Pumas are created using the Yellowbelly/Ivory Trait crossed into an interesting looking animal (which is not a yellowbelly)...but looks somewhat similar.

However, in Europe some people refer to Champagnes as Pumas.
An Italian Breeder was first to call the trait (which Americans know of as the Champagne) by the name Puma.
(similar situation to the European vs. American Bananas, which are also two completely different traits.)

So, to sum things up:
The American Champagne is the same as the Italian or European Puma.
The American Puma is a completely different snake.
