The Orlando Sentinel is sponsoring a poll on whether to ban pythons and other exotic reptiles. Please follow the link and vote ASAP. Deadline 5:00 pm EDT today. It is not a coincidence that the big Senate EPW hearing on invasive species is tomorrow. Senator Bill Nelson from Florida will be there. PLEASE VOTE NOW!

Looks like they "yes" to ban is about 450 votes ahead... it would not hurt to at least close the gap.

So vote early and vote often, if this does not show strong support for a ban it could be a tool herpers can use to show the public support we have.

The site just let me vote (well after the deadline) and it's

845 "Yes" (to ban)--21.8%

3039 "No" (don't ban)--78.2%

Maybe people have common sense after all?

The question itself is VERY broad--"Ban pythons and other exotic snakes?

looks to me like that poll is backfiring on them

I just checked in and they are still running it. I guess they figure we will forget about it, and the general public can turn the numbers around again. Seems to be working. For a while, we were winning about 85% - 15%. Now it is about 75% to 25%. We should keep checking it as long as it runs, and get friends and relatives to vote. Losing a poll is just one more thing the "anti-reptile people" can point to when trying to sink us.
