Cantact him Floridains!!!
speak your mind!

I emailed him few days ago because read a meeting on banning pythons was going to take place this week.

I explained that simply enforcing permits and regulations would go long way not to mention extra state revenue.

Many involved in that process were on the fence about banning them but the death of the 2 yr old child has changed some minds from what I heard.

What is ironic is that the half starved pythons owner which killed the child as of now has not been prosecuted yet responicble owners are in trouble.

I hate to be a party pooper, but contacting Bill Nelson is a lesson in futility. His mind is made up, he detests python ownership, he's not budging.

The best effort would be to contact all of the other senators who will be casting a vote in the near future.

It doesn't matter what you tell him or what facts you give him. Spend your time contacting the other members that will probably just go along with the majority.

Also it really bugs me how they claim thousands of unwanted pet burmese pythons have been dumped there by their owners when there is no proof of that. Infact, because of this belief they have tried to stop this from happening by having days where you could drop off your unwanted Burmese Pythons no questions asked. From what I have heard this rarely if ever resulted in anyone turning a snake over.

I contacted everyone in the state and will vote against anyone that I can who jumps on ban wagon.

There is a theory which an elderly man told me that pythons have been established in Glades for decades .

I know they are non native but the media makes it sound like people are dropping them off in Glades in last 10 yrs. CNN is going to have a Florida python segment on now .

go beyond the state...the senate is a national organization. If all they hear is Sen Nelson's perspective, then it is a jaded view. There are 49 other states. Many of tho other states do not have the biased view that has been presented to FL and do not have the same environmental concerns that plague FL. They are more receptive to the herp industry point of view.

Unfortunately, it appears that our side isn't being told, not even at the National level. Wish we had someone besides Monty Hall of "Let's Make A Deal" to actually represent us.
