When you talk california kings, which gets bigger, female or male?

I always thought that in snakes where males engage in combat for females, the males tend to be bigger. I thought this applied to colubrids.
In situations where there is no combat for mating rights, I thought the females were bigger. Boids are an example of this.
I could be totally wrong but I believe I've heard this before.
