Elaphe porphyracea coxi

mingdurga Jul 09, 2009 11:11 AM

Do the coxi hold their colors as adults or do they fade similar to the laticintus?

Thanks,

Mike

I wouldn't say they really fade but their red turns to a deeper, slightly darker red as they age, at least that's been the case with the ones I've raised.

Aspen Bedding? I thought that was not the way to go with these humidity loving critters.

This is how I keep my coxi.

I have to agree with Randy. I find that their color becomes richer or deeper. They do lose a bit of the yearling phase brightness as they get older, but not much. As far as bedding goes, we use a thick layer of cypress. We keep it slightly damp on the bottom and dry on top.
