Some new stuff to work into things

anthony james mc Jul 09, 2009 04:21 PM

I just hatched out 2 Pastel Calico males and I must say they are alot of fun the watch hatch! This particular Pastel Calico shown here is very extreme. The Mystic next to him isn't a normal Mystic either from what I can tell, for a Mystic he glows way more than he should , his black is crisp and he really has no brown tones at all like Mystics should have, the pattern is correct but his colors are different for sure. The interesting fact here is that the grandmother to the Pastel Calico and the mother of this Mystic is the same "odd" female so I don't think that unusual female mother/grandmother is a "normal" at all based on what she's made for me in the past and now recently. I wanted to see what the Mystic gene would do when bred into that odd female and I was pleasantly surprised at the result which is an ultra bright, cleaned up, Mystic. I only made the one Mystic as it was only a 5 egg clutch but luckily he has whatever gene mom has. In time I hope to unlock this other gene.

Hope you like the pic.

Nice snakes Anthony. You're going to love how that Pastel Calico colors up over the next several months.

Congrats,
Dan

This pic shows the Pastel Calico a little better. Let me know what you think of him.

That's a smoking pastel calico. I love when the pattern is all broken up on them like that. Nice work

How are the other mystic clutches coming along?

anthony james mc Jul 09, 2009 05:26 PM

There is 2 clutches of Mystic x Normal at day 55 now and a clutch of Mystic x Yb at day 54 now, things are starting to come together now. Maybe in a few days the first Mystic Yb will be on the ground, I peeked last night and I was pretty please at how they were looking , think I may have something out of that 6 egg clutch. The other Mystics coming from the 2 normals seemed about right on the results so things look good there too. As promised this will be my best year with the Mystic project thus far! I also hope to have a couple new Mystic crosses to play with by fall! Those folks that are getting Mystics from me will be quite pleased I think as the females I ran up against my Mystic males were some of the best girls I have, both big solid girls and unusual ones alike !

Awesome, sounds like all good stuff. I know I'm sure looking forward to the one I'm getting I'm mentally willing some eggs to hatch myself right now.

Anthony, that pastel calico is a real gem . . . I can't wait to see how it colors up after a few months.

The xoloring on that mystic is just very cool! I can't wait to see some of your other combos with the mystic.

Thanks for your comments! I hope to have a Mystic Yb to share a pic of in a day or two!

The Pastel Calico's are neat , and like Dan and Alice pointed out they should get better looking with age!

Thanks,
Anthony
