Does anyone use the solar glo? Supposly you can only use that and you don't need anymore uv lighting, can use just that one light and thats it. Too good to be true????

Solar Glow Mercury Vapour?

It is self balasted, so provides heat.

They must be hung directly downwards.
They need to be a fair distance from the animal
Some suggest 12-16" I who have used MVB for about 2 years, prefer 22" At this distance I find my beardies will bask directly under it more often.
They can not be dimmed or put on a thermostat, doing so will reduce the UVB produced to nearly 0.

I think they are great, however they only work in certain cage styles. I had mine custom built.

Cheers

I use the Exo-Terra terrariums, and it 36 long, 18 wide and 24 tall so i think this would work well. Yes the MV ones. 125 watt or 160 watt? my beards are about 2 years old 2 feet long

you really should upgrade your bearded dragon cage, especially if your dragon is 2 feet long. The cage isn't even wide enough for him to stretch out width wise. Hence why the minimum cage size for adult dragons is 4'x2' of floor space. 3'x 18" of floor space is fine for a 8th month old dragon, but not for an adult as big as yours.

As for the Solar Glo bulbs...I haven't used them. I just use the Repti-glo 8.0 UVB tubes and a flood lightbulb for heat.

Not to mention a MVB will problably easily over heat a cage that size.
My MVB is 125w, it raises the bask to 107ish at 22"
And raises ambient in the entire cage by atleast 5 degrees.
I use 4x2x2 Customs with alot of ventilation.
