HI I HAVE THIS YOUNG GOPHER SNAKE, NOW I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED ON WEATHER OR NOT ITS A GREAT BASIN OR A SONORAN, THE PIC ISNT THE BEST BUT THE BLOTCHES JUST BEHIND ITS HEAD ARE DARK BROWN AND REALLY HAVE NO BLACK, I BELIEVE ITS OF NORTHERN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO LOCALITY, CANT BE SURE. AND THAT MAKES ME THINK GREAT BASIN, BUT I HAVE HAD THOSE FOR YEARS AND IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE ANY OF THEM. WHAT DO YOU THINK? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP

The markings, esp. behind the neck, look like a Great Basin, and the coloring could be Sonoran. You say you think the snake is from NM. Could be from an intergrade zone. Great looking snake, but then again, I never saw a Gopher i didn't think was a beaut.

I would say Sonoran. The picture here is a Sonoran out of Northern Arizona.

THANKS THAT NORTH AZ SONORAN LOOKS JUST LIKE A PAIR I HAVE, I HAD TO LOOK TWICE BECAUSE IT COULD BE AN IDENTICAL TWIN TO MY YEARLING MALE.

I go with Sonoran as well.
