Just out of the egg

joecop Jul 09, 2009 09:36 PM

Gotta show off my new additions to the family. Knobs that are huge! Mom is 46-48 and dad is around 50" so maybe that is why.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice!

WOW. Nice work Purdum. And for a rookie you is doin' aaight. Babies are huge too.....I see that the umbilical is still connected. I typically moisten some paper towel inside a deli cup to ease with its disconnect, and once it's off I then transfer to a dryer enclosure. Congratulations all around.

Thanks Mr. Kruse!! The cord came right off as soon as the baby started crawling in the enclosure. Not going to have to worry about using small pinks with this one for sure!! As far as the lizard photos go----just trying to keep everything "in house" if you know what I mean brother. My daughter won't notice a couple missing here and there-----I hope not anyway. ha ha.

very nice....can't wait to see the others too. I have another month to go before we see any z babies pipping the eggs -- not exactly a bumper crop due to a weird winter we had and fluctuating temps, but enough to satiate indeed. I think i will invest in artificial cooling going forward as to not have to worry about warm winters again.

And I understand about the lil' one not finding out......and as much as I want to get rid of her pair of leopard geckos I don't have the heart to make 'em disappear. Three years ago it was the "okay daddy I will help take care of 'em" schtick which I fell for line and sinker. Yah......no more.....want some geckos?

I will post them as they come. I only had three eggs that were good out of six laid. I seperated them and incubated one of them at much cooler temps to see what happens so we will not see that one for weeks. Thanks for the good words!!! You know how much work goes into these things.

Thanks Todd. Curiousity got the best of me tonight and I had to put that hatchling against a measuring tape because it seemed so big. Taped out between 11 and 12 inches and I could not get it exact in fear of hurting the little thing. Big baby though.

Wow, I hardly ever get any kings near that size, once I had a clutch of splendidas that had some whoppers in it but not 11 inches!
