This male is a september 08 hatch and did not start eating pinks for months. He is now close to 20". That step in the photo is 10" deep with carpet.

Thanks for looking!!

Ater the amazing advice from ol' pioneer I see you've been pounding full-grown mice into that thing. Let's melt some more tubs too why not.....LOL.

Jerry, I had the hot side at 220 degrees and I used dry ice on the cold side. It did work though!! Ha Ha. I did feed this one as much as he would take and then forced medium rats down his throat with a toilet plunger.

Joe,

Nice critter, there! I see he really has taken off, even after a "rocky" start. Glad to see it, buddy.

Thanks Cole. He did go off feed for about 50 days, and who could blame him because as Jerry knows I was feeding him TONS. He just took a hopper a couple of days ago but seems to have "slowed down" a bit on the feeding. Still, I think he is pretty darn big for a 10 month old LTT.

aquaboyaquatics Jul 09, 2009 10:37 PM

What did you feed him before he would take pinks?

Mike

House gekos. Its all he would eat for the first couple meals. Then I started scenting with them and he was good to go. I think if I would have frozen the lizards and scented HEAVY with them in the first place there would have been no need to feed live lizards. Live and learn.

aquaboyaquatics Jul 09, 2009 10:49 PM

Wow! I would not think house geckos were part of the natural diet. Good Stuff!

Thanks,
Mike

Well, they don't live in plastic tubs either!! ha ha ha. I tried anoles, skinks, ect. Only the geko and geko scent worked with my little ones. I was unlucky in that NONE of my nine hatchlings took pinks from the start. The mother was gravid w/c from my backyard. I gave most of the babies away to friends on this site.

Joe, you may have done some good with the lizards, I am sure you did. It's what they are hard wired for. Use the Tequila, man, or whiskey! Turn up the tunes so you don't hear the blender! I have a pair of hogs that will NOT eat a pink or fuzzy 'till I use the stuff, every fourth meal or so they surprise me and down one without it.

A little reptile cocktail huh? Thats great. I should buy the same brand and color blender as the one my wife uses and throw her for a loop blending up some "lizard soup". Ha ha. Oh my God that would be funny to see her face when she thinks I am using her blender for that!!

Amanda_D Jul 10, 2009 11:53 AM

You should do that, and catch her on camera. LOL.
