Ok new question for night searching

havasubassmaster Jul 09, 2009 10:23 PM

Ok..i give up on road cruising until some rain action, although i will say last friday we ran to some kingman spots after some medium rains.we found way to many rattlers of all sorts but funny thing was they were ALL on the highway into kingman and NONE on the isolated roads we were going to. But cool none the less. so i might try a new tactic.super bright light and walking along rocky cuts and terrain...never have found anything that way ,but never realy tried...whats the BEST,brightest hand held light that doesnt cost a million bucks?..my maglight just wont cut it.

I just bought a Petzl TakTicca XP or something like "XP" at Bass Pro Shops here in Vegas. Did the research, read the reviews etc. Just an awesome lamp. Comes w/colored filters as well to diffuse the light though I tried it out just on the non-filtered setting and it rocked. It was $65. My cohort bought a cheap one at WalMart and the difference was waay obvious! Its also adjustable which is killer when you change your viewpoints from the ground say to up a slope w/out having to crane your neck to move the beam.

The Headlamp, Maglight combo worked good for me. Do yourself a favor and get a headlamp with some decent reviews.

The bigger hand held spotlights are great while I have used them for fishing mostly they have a tendency to burn their bulbs rather fast.

The Mag I had fit in my pocket as it was a smaller model but that with the cheopo headlamp worked fine. I am vegasbilly brother in hunting. Most of the headlamps made by Tac Tikka get very good reviews and everyone seems to love them.

Good Luck

Ooops, Petzl is the maker of the headlamps not Tak Tikka that is one of their models.
