hatchlings not eating???

ballfreak Jul 10, 2009 04:08 PM

i have 3 hatchlings not eating yet? they are almost 1 month old. they are set up on aspen and hot spot of 90 but im thinking maybe the tubs are too big? i have them in a animal plastics tub 1756 but the tub is split into two with a tub divider. i have only tried rat pups and fuzzies not mice because i breed my own rats and thats all i have. when should i start worrying about them not eating? they all look healthy!

I would try some mice to get them kick started. Jumpy little mice seem to get them stimulated. I haven't had a problem switching to rats shortly after either...

As frustrating as it is, sometimes it can take even longer than a month to get them to eat (though not usually). How often are you trying to feed them? If you try too often, you can stress them in to not eating. Feed at night, with all the lights out, and make sure they have a snug hidebox. And see if you can find a couple small mice at a pet shop. Either big hoppers or small adults. It's what I start mine out on, and I've never had a problem switching to rats.
