Daytona corn snake dinner to benefit...

kathylove Jul 10, 2009 09:25 PM

US ARK. Yes, I know that this is a python forum. But PFGinger suggested that the python forums are very active in fighting unjust laws, and suggested posting in a couple of python forums. Some of you may be interested in either attending, or donating something.

Lots of corn snake keepers will get together Saturday night at the Daytona Expo for a dinner, corn snake discussions, and a question and answer session. We will also have a raffle with the proceeds donated to US ARK. You are invited if you like corns, and want to meet lots of corn fans. BUT - you can still donate a raffle item (live animal or supplies, or anything reptile related) to benefit US ARK, even if you have no interest in attending.

It will be held at the Homewood Suites in Daytona, here:http://www.homewooddaytona.com/Site/Welcome.html

US ARK has provided us with this acknowledgment:
To: Katherine Haluska

Katie,
I greatly appreciate the work you and Kathy are doing to help raise money for USARK. I'm sure Zoo Med will donate prizes for your efforts because Gary Bagnall sits on our board of directors. Not only that Zoo Med will match ALL the money you can raise. I hope that this letter will serve as confirmation of the fantastic work you are doing on behalf of USARK.

Thank you,
Andrew Wyatt
President USARK
252-207-1041

Any potential donors may call him to confirm if they wish. The value of your donation will be doubled because of the generous offer from ZooMed.

Please email me at kathy@cornutopia.com for more details if you are interested in attending or donating.

POSTED WITH PERMISSION OF PHGINGER - THANKS!

Somebody else just offered an adult male pastel BP - just since I posted this! I am encouraged - I think everyone is really disgusted with the proliferation of laws, and many are impressed by how US ARK coordinated the letters against HR 669. I know I was! Hope we can help them (and all of us!) out, and of course, have lots of FUN while we do it!

Thanks!
Kathy

Tom,
What do you mean you aren't a cornsnake kind of guy, I clearly remember your pricelist having corns het for legs. I assume those hets never proved out.

Only because Bill Love worked for me then and I knew he would buy it....It was only a 66% poss het so I guess it didn't prove out for him...LOL...Seriously that was in a time when the Herp Business was a LOT of fun and NO one took themselves seriously and we did fun crazy things. Also we were rather a small community in those days and everyone knew each other.....

Kathy if you will take a ball python donation I will be more than happy to donate an animal or two. If this is ok, would it be possible to deliver it to the next herp club meeting as I prob won't be attending daytona this year?

Bill will be giving a PowerPoint talk on his Australia trip next meeting if you would like to attend. Bring any donations with you. We appreciate it!

i spoke to someone (was it andrew? ) yesterday, fri eve. you said you guys will also be at white plains in a few months (and i assume many other venues?). you said i could donate a few ball pythons to you at that time... will this be an ongoing money raising option for usark?

these auctions are a smart idea and a great way for breeders and hobbyists to contribute.

kathylove Jul 11, 2009 12:28 AM

I have met and talked to them at several shows myself.

Our corn snake group is not part of US ARK. We are just holding a raffle at our meeting to donate the proceeds to them. So I am not sure of just which shows they will attend. But I am sure they will be happy for any donations, whether through us, or directly to US ARK.

paulbuckley Jul 11, 2009 12:56 AM

ok thanks.

kathy, good luck with the raffle.

Kathy,if you have any printed appplications for UASRK have bill bring them up next satuday.we support them. Thanks Terry

kathylove Jul 11, 2009 10:41 AM

Maybe you could put something on your front info table about needing donations for them (or announce it a few times during the show). Bill could bring back whatever is donated, and we will take it to Daytona.

Hi Kathy,
I will donate some nice raffle items for the benefit. I'll look for you in Daytona Thursday or Friday. Is there a particular drop off place for items?

kathylove Jul 14, 2009 11:11 PM

Drop it by my table on Fri or Sat. We will be there setting up on Fri. If you like, tape a business card or contact info to each item so we can give you proper credit when we announce it.

Thanks a bunch!

for our "cornsnake dinner" - and they are both ball pythons! Thanks to Chris and Sheila at Gulf Coast Reptiles for a young male vanilla BP, and thanks also to Josh Hutto of Pt. Charlotte for a baby male yellow belly!

I am sure US ARK also thanks them for whatever results the raffle will bring!

Thanks!

I'm assuming the "corn snake dinner" is over? It'd be nice to get this thresd deleted to save some space!

kathylove Aug 27, 2009 07:05 PM

due at least in part to the people from this forum who donated some ball pythons. I do plan to write up a thank you post for everyone who donated. But this can be unstickied now and left to drift to the bottom, if the mods would like to do that.

Thanks everyone!
