Pewter vs. Bumblebee

elapidfan Jul 10, 2009 10:49 PM

I've been looking to get an '08 male and came across someone with a Pewter and and a Bee, both around the same weight and same price. What I'm asking of you guys is to give me your expert opinion on which to choose. This is going to be my first breeding attempt (this coming Fall) and I'm looking to get one of these males and eventually acquire two females for him. (not sure what morph yet) Does one have greater morph-producing possibilites than the other? Which male would you go with? (the pewter or the bee) Any help will be greatly appreciated!

First, is the Pewter Black Pastel or Cinnamon?

I would personally go with the Pewter. Silver Streaks, Bullets, and the Supers are awesome. Those patternless snakes are HOT! Seems like everyone is working with Bees and the Spider gene. (Although it does seem Pastels and B. Pastels seem pretty prolific too....hmmm). But it always comes down to what you are into: The smokey/silvery Pewter, or the bright and blinding Bees

Here's my advice, get the females first. A female will take at the very very very least 18 months to breed, and more likely 2 1/2 years. On the other hand, males will commonly breed within the first year. Get a couple pastel girls, or whatever females you were thinking. Then, a year from now, get a pewter or a bee male, or maybe by then you'll be so stoked you'll get a queen bee. It'll be cheaper, and you'll be closer to breeding.

Pewter, it can produce more as both the Pastel and Cinny/ Black Pastel have super forms .... or get both.

Thanks guys you've been a huge help. I think I'm going to go with the pewter!

Think about it-the bee is a combo of two morphs, one of which (the spider) has no super form, The pewter, on the other hand, is a pastel/cinnamon-both having a super form, thus multiplying the morph possibilities.

Pewters are not a lot more expensive than bees, but they should be!
