Remove babies? House together ?

jamifi Jul 10, 2009 10:55 PM

I was wondering whats the best time to remove the hatchlings from the hatching box and incubator? I have 2 fully out of the egg and I am assuming I should wait until they are all out?

Also wondering if I should house them all together in say one of my 32q racks or split them into individual 15 or 5q ? I am wondering if housing together will make them feel the need to compete for food and eat better or stress them and they wont eat...

I was thinking moving them would be a good time to sex them also by popping them and seperate my males and females?

I am so excited to see them out, So far they are really light and I am seeing the pastel colors with reduced patterns... cant wait to see the rest.

I keep them all together in the incubator until they go through their first shed - just make sure their tub has air holes and a water dish - keep them moist and change the paper towel often to keep them clean. After their first shed they should be set up separately and then you can start trying to feed them.

Congratulations!!!

Set them up in their own shoe box as soon as they come out of egg! They're easier to keep records on that way!

My thoughts were the same to keep better track, so far 2 are out and about or at least were last night when I left for work. I am excited to see whats going on this morning when I get home and how many are out and about.
I guess everyone has their own ideas and what workd, many people say let them stay together until they are all out and about.

Im going to pla yit by ear, I may start taking them out one at a time and I am definately going to house them seperate to avoid any stress and possible aggressiveness.
Thanks for the inout
