'09 Davis Mt.bairdi clutch

antelope Jul 11, 2009 02:57 AM

Here's a clutch of Davis Mt. bairdi that hatched last night, the parents were given to me by Toby Brock, gravid and ready to go! She laid 04-30-09 and they hatched 07-10-09. 9 eggs in all, 8 made it into this world, one egg was under the mass and in a divot in the vermiculite, huge slit but couldn't get out, very big baby, too. I will separate all the eggs from now on, if possible. I had great luck with the "roll" technique for separation. Here's a shot of the kids and Mom and Pop.

Beautiful babies, Todd.

Yes, I recently started separating all eggs, and my hatch rate has gone up a couple percentage points. Might not sound like much, but when you're dealing with a thousand eggs, it's significant!

Great Todd.
Those are classic, "North of the Rio Grande" Baird's with thick stripes.
Would be a plus for any NA collection.
I like them...

Thanks Bill, I am enjoying them immensely, always ready for a meal and very calm, inquisitive snakes!

yep, I have 13 eggs laid on June 3rd, temp in the closet is 79 at night to 83 in the day, probably 2 1/2 -3 more weeks, should have a few splendida this week.
The eggs are noticeably smaller than last years' but look good.

They will be staying mine for awhile, because of the personality. I find them much more curious, even bold compared to your average Corn or WC obselata..
