PICS for Jeff Harding (interaction pics)

Mike H. Jul 11, 2009 11:24 AM

Continuing our conversation about the Boscs, here's some pics of a trusting confident Bosc.

I'll outline them all for the new keepers that may be viewing....

A molested monitor (a monitor who's owner reaches in, grabs him & pulls him out of his enclosure) will never truly learn to trust a human. They either turn aggressive, or develop a stressed broken spirit and submit to the molestation rather than oppose it with aggression.

A nice confident monitor will let you interact with him but will also communicate to you when to come closer or when to stay out of his space.

You can see a level of trust and respect. When the cage is opened, he doesn't flee & hide or raise up on his rear leggs in preparation to tail whip.

Out of curiosity, they watch everything you do.

Some gentle interaction. He'll sometimes lay his head on my hand and close his eyes.

Some middle of the night basking, the exact reason most keepers recommend keeping the basking lights on 24-7

Thanks for the post Mike. I'm starting to see some of those behaviors in my bosc now that he has his cage complete and I am only around for a little bit. He come to me when I have food and doesnt shy away when I wet the cage down or change the water.
