How long before I panic?

ohernz Jul 11, 2009 06:28 PM

I have two females (one normal and one het pied) that bred this season, both mated several times. I am not certain on their ovulation date because I ALWAYS miss my snakes ovulations...that said, they both have been showing signs of being gravid. Both shed on June 11th, one month from today. When should I start to worry? My son is telling me that we should take them to a vet to have them checked for egg bounding. What would be the symptoms of an egg bound female?
HELP!

Ball pythons don't read the same books we do. Sometimes they'll go 50 days before laying. I have females that regularly go 40-45 days. Wait it out.

Ball Pythons are not very prone to egg binding. I can only recall, from all the people that post here, only 1 or 2 cases of egg bound females in the last half dozen years. What are the odds you have two? With that said I wouldnt want anything to happen to your girls because some knuckle head (that'd be me) talks you out from going to the vet. I would wait for a bit if I were you.

Keep us posted.
