"Officials, for example, fear pythons may be on the brink of wiping out what remains of the endangered Key Largo wood rat and that other South Florida animals like the Key Deer could be next."

Now I may have been missing this for oh let's say...ever...but is Key Largo now being invaded by pythons? It's not on the news or in the papers and none of my friends who live in Key Largo have mentioned seeing them or have told me about them being seen...so would this be sensationalism?

I would think that the Key Largo wood rat would be wiped out from all of the ferrel cats and natural predators like the red shoulder hawks and other local raptor species that prey on them.

And the Keys deer...please...no offense to anybody but their biggest threat is being hit by a car.

Maybe if the media and certain politicians who want nothing more than their name associated with a new bill didn't blow things out of proportion so much, we wouldn't have some of the issues we do in this country.

I'm going tarpon fishing in Key Largo so if you guys don't hear back from me...it's because one of those killer pythons swam out and swallowed me whole...along with my 18' flats boat. They are threatening the reef fish you know...
