Couperi LOVES albino B.c.i.

snakeline Jul 12, 2009 09:00 AM

I thought i can post those pics here!

My albino Boa c.i. gave birth yesterday, sadly she took sperm from the 2005 breeding saison! LOOONG storie.... anyway i ended up with 6 het. albino boas, 6 stillborn/deformed albino boas and some slugs! So my female couperi was lucky and became a nice amelanistic meal All animals have been dead prior to feeding!!! I LOVE my Boas and it truly sucks to get such a litter, I tried to bred her this year to my Marron Boas, and i´m not sure why she doesn´t took that sperm at all! But i think it´s better to feed them to my Indigos as "throwing" those babys away!

I think this needs to go on the boa forum. Without an explanation! LOL

I fed a baby ball python to mine once.

Snake line, way to be resourceful! Had your D.couperi eaten snakes prior? I recently fed snakes to mine, and I was amazed at the enthusiastic response and powerful instinct, she even started stretching the previously frozen/thawed feeder snake. I am convinced that Indigos not only eat snakes, they enjoy it! These were frozen/thawed d.o.r. snakes, none were killed to feed my primarily bird/rodent feeding D. couperi.

Good luck on your boa project and with your nice Indigo as well. Vic H. Imperial Valley, CA.

Vic-

I periodically feed both my cribos and mussurana frozen thawed DOR snakes and I get a similarly enthusiastic response. Given the varied natural diet of drymarchon, it seems like snakes are pretty high on the preference list.

Thanks for your kind words!
My female couperi was a picky eater her hold life! It was frustrating... earlier this year i have had a stillborn boa in a litter of 32 perfect babies... and i thought i should try it... she was confused the first time she saw a feeder snake but she ate it after apr. 30 min. NOW She goes crazy when i put a snake inside! She realy enjoy them! She even eats alot better since her first snake! So now i´ll feed snaks if i have the possibility!!

Something about a Drymarchon consuming a designer morph boa that is very entertaining.

LOL, even a Boamorph lover can do such things....I see no reason to feel bad about it.. honestly i´m happy to have such great snakes who eats others... this way i have a happy Indigo and those babies are not senseless!
