Some Speckled Kings

Nokturnel Tom Jul 12, 2009 10:14 AM

Trying to take pics of Albinos and White Walls can be a royal pain. I tried some outside shots with no flash to capture the colors.
This White Wall is what I'd call a high yellow. In person the yellow is vivid and when light hits it they actually have a greenish glow on the stripe. Very hard to see in a photo....

Here's a possible het with some screaming yellow

Hardest of all to get a good pic of...the Albino

This last shot is using flash

You can see some of the coloring you are talking about in the 2nd photo of the little Whitesided. How old are those guys? They're good size for Speck babies.

Thanks! I have discovered that the trick to keeping baby Specks going is by giving them food as immediately as possible from meal to meal AND to get them feeding as soon as possible.

Brooksi and other Kings grow very quickly when you stuff them but newborn Specks can not handle that. They can die from too large food offerings and regurge on a 6 gram snake can also kill em fast.

The babies vary in size and the White Wall is from a clutch of good sized eggs, some can be like freakin grapes they're so small. I think that having a reliable source to get day old pinkies is a big plus with these [in the first 2 months] because every meal counts and missing meals due to offerings that are too large can quickly deteriorate them. A solid feeding schedule will get them growing long and lean.

Other baby Kings can miss meals and make it up on the next offering by stuffing themselves. Specks are like that when they hit 10-12 inches...but often they can by like 6-8 inches when they hatch.

I am really keeping on top of my babies and most fed soon after their first shed...a few have not fed and if they dont feed soon they're doomed. That's just the way it goes.... I never force feed ever.

The snakes picture are at max 3 weeks old. These are very under rated pets. Not half as tricky as some snakes that are known to be hard to get started and they're gorgeous.
Did you get the email I sent you a few days ago?
Take it easy
