I was just wondering if anyone had any good spots too look for the native snakes here in Northern Illinois. I am about an hour west of Chicago.

My kids and I will go out on nature hikes all of the time. We see turtles, frogs, toads, birds but the only times we have seen any snakes is on the road. We have also tried turning over rocks, logs etc... still no luck. Any help/info is greatly appreciated.
