ooanwfndglryoo Sep 15, 2003 09:52 AM

My beardie will not let me touch her today...she will not eat...She just sits there on her basking log. I don't know whats wrong with her....I'm starting to get upset about this whole thing because I MUST be doing something wrong. I'm sorry I've made so many help posts lately as well....Thanks

Got the dragon one week 8 days ago...When I got her she was 2 and 1/2 months old. My setup is a 55gallon tank, sand substrate, 2 basking spots, 1 hiding spot, 105degree average hotside on the basking spot, 80 degree average coolside, 2 digital thermometers each with probes so I keep track of temperature at 4 locations in the tank, she has a water dish. The only thing I'm lacking is what I'm waiting to come in the mail...160watt PowerSun MV basking bulb and my 48" reptisun UVB bulb and fixture.

what is her behaviour like? what is she doing? i would let her alone for awhile and let her settle in, she is still new to her environment. once she starts eating regularily etc then you can begin to handle her, some dont take well to change, some dont mind it at all, its different for every dragon.

i agree. babies can instinctivly be pretty nervous about being handled. as much as possible, try to avoid coming at her from directly overhead. other than that, id jsut give her a few more days to get used to your prescence, then try to hold her for a little bit every day. my little girl seems to have calmed down a bit since i got Kaipo, who loooooooves attention. i think she's learning i really dont want to eat her

as for the appetite, it could be the lack of uvb. i believe the uvb helps stimulate appetite. but nothing id get too worried about at this point. if it continues, or if she develops diarrhea or any other symptoms, then there might be a problem. but she's probably still just highly stressed from having a new home
