Hi,

I´m surching for some infos about sidewinder morphs.
Please help me!

because

A good friend of mine had an unexpected litter from a breeding of what he thought 2 "normals"
in this litter are 6 normal ones and 2 "light" ones
the "light" babys have yellow reduced pattern, a red tongue and bluish-grey eyes with red pupils.

so, what is it? and where can I get some infos about possible morphs?

here is a pic of what I´m talking:

i do not know of any sidewinder morphs currently being bred....albinos have been produced, but do not seem to have ever made it into any breeding programs...your animal may be some type of pastel, but i would need to see pics next to litter mates to make a better judgement call....you can rule out hypo as there are black dots, the reduction of melanin changes the color where black would be....also albino can be ruled out with the black dots....an albino sidewinders colors would be the same as the other carmel albino(T ) rattlesnakes or the T- yellow and white albinos....and a paradox albino animals dots wouldn't appear so uniformly... i am on the east coast and do not see hundreds of sidewinders a year, so i may be wrong about the pastel even...i have seen lots of really light sidewinders at shows, so finding someone that specializes in them would be the best person to ask... also some of those west coast herpers could help here....

I would call those Hypoish at best, I have seen many winders and within the same litter you can see several different shades of tan, silver, gray,or white. Cute little guys though, and you dont want to get tagged by one, they hurt...

I know what you´r talking about,
but do they have ruby tongues, purple pupuls and light purple bellies?

We checked the new born ones with some of our light adults and they all have black color on the rattle, a black tongue, black pupils and a different belly color.
So far nearly all of our litters contanes these dark ones up to 90%. With a litle time they turn into the light color.
