spider x what = dead eggs?

adamjeffery Jul 14, 2009 02:50 PM

a while back when the spider gene was pretty scarce still it was talked about on here as not being able to be bred to something else that caused the eggs not to hatch. either it was spider x spider or spider x woma. can anyone shed light on this for me.
thanks again

I just remember spiders. I can't remember woma's being on that list. Not positive though.

Well it's not spider x woma because there are spider woma crosses. I know people have successfully bred spiders to bumble bees -- IDK if anyone has proven definitively if spider x spider is viable or not.

Now Woma x Woma results in Pearls that have a failure to thrive issue.

Spider X spider is not a lethal gene. Its not advised because of the head shaking thing earlier thoughts that if you outbred the gene it would stop this but it hasnt proved to be that way. It just pops up my spider het ghost male doesnt show any signs of the tremors but out of 3 clutches last year one of his daughters did while none of the others had that problem.

spider x spider might me lethal, and may be not.

For some unknow reason, there have never been a proof of a homozygous spyder.

Does that mean, they die in the eggs, they eggs can't be fecundated, geneticly something else happens.

We don't know yet.

For the Super Woma (Pearls) how many have hatch ? Is it really not viable or it just happens that those had may be something else and didn't work. I think only a few woma x woma occured, and people try to breed the woma to something else cause they are scared of getting a not viable pearl. It's worth more to breed them to something else for combos.
