Help...Eggs got too dry!

TJ. Jul 14, 2009 08:39 PM

Figures...Went away on a 5 day camping trip and just arrived home to find my wild caught Eastern Milksnake laid a clutch of eggs right out in the open on top of the basking shelf!!! Wasn't even sure she was gravid, so I set up the enclosure as one big nest box with plenty of moss and moist mulch, etc., and hosed it all down real good before I left...just in case. (At least she didn't plunk em all down into the water bowl) Anyway...a cutch of 10 perfect tiny eggs are now partially dried up and shriveled down to almost half size. Any quick emergency trick to "re-hydrate" them? I put them into the usual medium I've always used to hatch eggs (basically moist tree stump mulch and moss) Never used vermiculite yet but will certainly do so if that would help. I'll try and post some pics of em here soon, too. Thanks. TJ.

I keep moist hides with all my adult snakes.
I keep males with females year round
Here is a clutch of 13 eastern milk eggs from June 20
