Why do female snakes cost more than the males? Does it have something to do with the genes that are passed on for morphs?

most people want to buy one male and 2 or 3 females for their breeding groups. So breeders usually run out of females long before they run out of males. If males are cheaper, customers may consider buying a male if they just want a pet.

females.........

Are the ones that lay the eggs.
They also take more time to grow up to sexual maturity.

In a breeders standpoint they are just worth more than males.

Males can reach sexual maturity in about 6 months /-
Females take up to 18-24 months if you are lucky and should be over 1kg…….which takes time.

This is most true with recessive morph females. With albino female that is mature at 2 years old, you can breed a male to her and produce hets for albino. In less than a year you can bread one of those males het for albino back to the mom and produce more albinos. If this was done with a male albino to a normal female it can take up to 6 years to produce that trait you want.

With co-Doms you see the male more expensive than the females for many times. Also, this is true in babies. As the females grow - whether recessive or co-dom, she becomes much more valuble as she gets older and of breeding size.

For "newer" morph, male will usually cost more than female.

Cause with one male, you can make way more of the same usually. One male can breed multiple female. So you need less of them. That's also why breeders usually have more males to sale than female. Since female lay eggs, they are worth more to have. That's why normal females have values, while the males do not. (They are considered as pets).

The female morph, have higher value cause if you want to do combos, you need those. You can't get super pastel or killer bees if you don't have a female pastel.

You could breed a bumblebee female to a male pastel and you could have killer bees. But if you have 1 bumble male and lot of female pastel, you can make more killer bees, than the inverse.
