weight on a one year old

laurarfl Jul 15, 2009 09:06 AM

I'd like to check the growth on some yearling bd's. Would a few of you mind posting the weights of your year old bd's? The two that I have would have hatched in June and July if that gives a point of reference, and they are male and female, respectively.

Thanks!

I have 2 bearded dragons that are one year old. Both born in june or july last year:

Rusty (female): 500g and 18"

Flake (male): 700g and 22"

2 females, sisters:

Callie Hatched 5/2/08 Laid 6 clutches totaling 151 eggs. Today 539 grams.

Cassie, hatched 5/4/08 Did not lay eggs. 445 grams.

Neither is gravid. Interesting huh?

I have lots more info if I go back in my records, but I think this adequately shows the wide variance in Beardies.

Question for both of you...did your beardies brumate? Both of my littles slept a bit last winter, especially the female.

BDlvr Jul 16, 2009 06:11 PM

I checked both Callie and Cassie brumated for 4 months. They live together.

Here's some weights from the year before.

Squirt(m) 517
Kaden(m) 453 (deformed/handicapped)
Digger(m) 438
Amanda(f) 518
Sky(f) 486
Ord(m) 561
Grover(m) 533
Oscar(m) 683

My female did brumate for a long time this winter. My male only slow down a little bit. They are kept seperately.

My female just laid 4 clutches for a total of 110 eggs...maybe she'll do an other one soon.

I'm glad I checked. He's only 300g. I thought he was looking small. He's the first dragon I've had from the outside in a while. He has a thick tail and looks proportionate, but small. I think I'll beef up his insect intake. He also seems to avoid the basking light directly.
